how do I find information about organizational assessment tools used in the IO field of psychology
I found two books that might be good places to start.
In our PsycBOOKS collection (reached from the Find Books page) your might want to look at: Organizational assessment: A step-by-step guide to effective consulting by Harry Levinson, (2002)
In our Credo Reference collection (find it on the Find Books page of the Online Library). I searched for the phrase "organizational assessment" and one of the results was a section called Organizational Diagnosis. (2004) from the Encyclopedia of Applied Psychology, which said in part:
"Instruments from different disciplines, predominantly work and organizational psychology, economics, management, and organizational sociology, are used in OD. The choice of instruments largely depends on which aspects of experience, behavior, performance, and interaction of organizational members are relevant with regard to the focus and specific goals of the OD. Whereas, for example, for the diagnosis of organizational culture, the assessment of values and normative beliefs of organizational members is of particular relevance, for an OD focusing on quality, the perception and evaluation of internal and external customers are of vital importance. There are no comprehensive reviews on the instruments from the different disciplines; instruments are available from individual publications or books on certain groups of instruments."
