rite of passage in Tanzania
Thanks for contacting the Library. For your topic, you can try a couple of different searches. First log in to the Online Library. On the home page, click on Find Articles and More. Then click ProQuest Central which will be listed near the top of the database list.
When it opens, type in Tanzania and rites of passage, then hit enter.
You will see results. To read an article, click the title or the Full Text link associated with it.
You can also try some searches such as Tanzania and puberty or Tanzania and coming of age.
We also have a book called Tanzania: Society & Culture in our EBSCO Ebook Collection. Click Find Books and More. When the database opens, type in Tanzania and hit enter. The book is the first result. Click the PDF Full Text link or the title to open it. There is a chapter on rites of passage.
I was not finding a ton on this topic in our databases, so you can also try a Google search like this:
Tanzania and rites of passage site:edu
Adding site:edu will search for articles from universities and other educational institutions which is a good way to filter results. You can also search for your topic in Google Scholar.
Once you gather some information about rites of passage in Tanzania, you can compare/contrast with what you know about rites of passage in America. Keep in mind, however, that there is so much diversity within American culture (ethnic, religious, etc.) that you may have to take that into consideration and put some limits on your searches. You can try similar searches such as America or United States and coming of age, which seems to be a better search term for that particular search.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you need additional assistance.
