Is there a way to search articles through a range of years instead of singly?

I need peer-reviewed articles, journals, etc. that were published within the last 5 years in psychology.

Answer

If you are using the Quick Search/Advanced Search tool, you can only limit the search by a specific year. You can view and filter your results by years under the Date tab for Clustered Results on the results page.

If you want to limit your search to a date range, the best method is to go to a specific database as ProQuest and EBSCO databases allow you to limit to ranges. To start your search, on the library homepage, go to FIND NOW under Find Articles. The Find Articles & More page provides an alphabetical list of the databases for articles. For Psychology, you will want to use

  • PsycARTICLES/PsycINFO (from ProQuest)
  • Psychology & Bahvioral Sciences Collection (from EBSCO)
  • Psychology Journals (from ProQuest)
For the ProQuest databases, you will need to choose Advanced Search. On the Advanced Search screen, you will find the option to select Date Range under Search Options. EBSCO databases are already on an Advanced Search screen and you will find the option to select Published Date From under Limit Your Results. You can also select Peer Reviewed and Full Text in these databases.

In all of these databases, you can also change the date range on the results page under Narrow Results By (ProQuest) or Refine Your Results (EBSCO).
