How do I find information on the history of a company like target?

Answer

There are several good sources available from the Find Articles page of the Online Library.

The database called Mergent has a brief historical outline with statements like "In 1988, Co.'s Target Stores purchased 31 Gold Circle and Richway stores.  On June 23, 1990, Co. acquired the common stock of Marshall Field & Co., for $1,050,000,000."  Just type the "Target Corp" in the Company Search box on the left of Mergent's first screen and click the go button.  Then look for a tab marked History.

Business Source Elite also has some articles of interest.  Search by putting "Target Corp" on one search box, and History in the second search box.

And the most extensive history of Target Corp I have found so far was at Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_Corporation ).  As always, check the notes and references section to see what the article is based on.  Look at the original sources for any facts you need to rely on.

Does this give you enough information?
