I need articles on children being raised by married parents.
I am doing research on children that are raised around relationships or marriages that are strong and established to show that they have a better chance of living safer and healthier lives.
Answer
You may want to search for articles in some of the psychology-related databases as well as the education databases. To access the databases for articles, on the library homepage, click on FIND NOW under Find Articles. The Find Articles & More page is an alphabetical list of the databases for journal articles. Try one or more of the following:
- Academic Search Elite
- Education Journals
- PsycARTICLES/PsycINFO
- Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection
All of these databases allow you to limit to peer reviewed articles (if this is a requirement for you research). Some examples of search terms to try:
- children AND married parents
- child development AND married parents
- child development AND single parents
If you are permitted to use resources that are not peer reviewed, access the database SIRS Issues Researcher on the Find Articles & More page. Here you may want to try a search for "children of divorced parents" (for example).
