Looking for articles on violent video games and children's social skills.

Answer

If you need to limit to peer reviewed sources, you will need to access databases like:

  • Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection
  • PsycARTICLES/PscyINFO
  • Psychology Journals
  • Social Science Journals

To access these databases, click on FIND NOW under Find Articles on the library homepage. In each of the above mentioned databases, you will have an option to limit to full text and peer reviewed or scholarly sources. Search terms to use may be:

  • video games AND children
  • video games AND children AND violence
  • video games AND child development

If you are not required to use only peer reviewed sources, SIRS Issues Researcher is also an option (find it also on the Find Articles & More page). Use the Pro vs. Con section and click on More Issues. The Violence in Mass Media issues page provides research on your topic. You may also want to look at the ProCon.org website linked below.
