Q. Searching for empirical articles related to American Sign Language and/or interpreting programs in higher education.

You can search in the ERIC database for empirical research articles in the education field. To start, launch the Online Library. On the library homepage, click on FIND NOW under Find Articles. Scroll down the alphabetical list of databases until you find ERIC and click on this title.

In ERIC, use the Advanced Search option. On the Advanced Search screen, look under Search Options for the Document Type box. Scroll through the list to select the option 143 Reports: Research. This option is used for empirical research.

You can then select Peer Reviewed if needed. You will then want to search for your concepts like:

American Sign Language AND higher education

interpreters AND higher education
