My VitalSource textbook is expiring today!

I downloaded my textbook, but there's a notice that it expires today! How do I fix it?

Answer

When you first access your VitalSource textbook, you have a temporary (21 day from the start of class) version of the book.  On that 21st day you will lose that version of the book, and if you have downloaded it and try to use it after the expiration date you will receive a notice that it has expired.

After the book has expired, "renew" the book (get the 5-year version) by going back into your online class and following the link to the electronic textbook(s) again.  Then go into the VitalSource "Bookshelf Downloadable" program and select the Account menu and go to Update Book List (some programs may have different terminology, this is the PC menu route).  The program will contact the server and should read that you have "purchased" the 5-year versions of the textbooks and will download them again.  You now have the 5-year version of the book!
