I need some help trying to locate articles on anti-depressant medications and if they help or hurt people.

Answer

A good place to start on this topic is the database SIRS Issues Researcher. On the library homepage, click on the Find Articles & More button. On the Find Articles page you will find a long alphabetical list of databases. Scroll through the list to find the link to SIRS Issues Researcher.

On the SIRS homepage scroll through the list of Leading Issues to find the topic Mental Health (as shown in the image below). You will find numerous articles including pro vs. con perspectives related to mental health and the use of drugs and other treatments.

Also on the Find Articles page is the database Points of View Reference Center. You can find some similar pro vs. con information here by searching for topics like "depression and medication."

If you need to use peer reviewed sources, you will need to search in a database like Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection (also found on the Find Articles page). Before searching, be sure to check the "Peer Reviewed" box under Search Options. You may want to search for topics like antidepressants and side effects (as shown in the image below).
