How do I cite from a book where each author has a chapter in a book? (APA)

Answer

Books that contain chapters written by various authors will have an editor or several editors. The standard format for books with editors is:

Editor, A. A., Editor, B. B., & Editor, C. C. (Eds.). (year). Title of book. Location: Publisher.

If you are are only citing specific chapters, you would use this format and you would provide a reference for each chapter you cite in your text:

Author, A.A. (year). Title of chapter or entry. In A. Editor & B. Editor (Eds.), Title of book (pp. x-xx). Location: Publisher.

Here is an example:

Franklin, J. (2007). The psychological interview. In M. Kramer & W. Call (Eds.), Telling true stories: A nonfiction writer’s guide from the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University (pp. 34-35). New York, NY: Penguin Group.
