•Explain reasons for the disparity in Social Security between the United States and other industrialized countries.

Answer

Hi Sheila,

A good database to start your research would be ProQuest Central. You can find this database in the Online Library under the Find Articles & More button.  From there, you will want to click on "Advanced Search."  Be sure you check off the "Full Text" box to ensure you only bring back results with the full text of the article included.  If you need Peer Reviewed or scholarly articles for your paper, be sure you check off the "Peer Reviewed" box as well.

Are you interested in comparing the United States to a specific country, continent, or region?  For example, if you are interested in comparing the United States to a specific country or region, you could use the search terms:

"Social Security" AND "United States" AND "United Kingdom"

"Social Security" AND "United States" AND Europe

Be sure you enter those terms as they are typed above with the quotation marks.  Using quotation marks will bring back the exact phrase.  You will want to separate these terms onto the different search boxes provided in the Advanced Search screen.

If you want more general comparisons, you may want to use search terms such as:

"Social Security" AND "United States" AND comparison

"Social Security" AND "United States" AND international

You may also want to try the database Academic Search Complete (also located under the Find Articles & More button).  You can use the same search terms in that database as well.
