Hello I am looking for an article about How Listening Skills Impact and are critical to a client patient relationship

Answer

Hi Ivy,

I would recommend using the following databases:

  • PsycARTICLES and PsycINFO
  • Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
  • Psychology Journals
  • PsycBOOKS

You can find the first three databases listed alphabetically under "Find Articles and More" in the Online Library, and the last database listed under "Find Books and More."  Additionally, you may also want to look at ProQuest Digital Dissertations and Theses, which you can find alphabetically under "Find Articles and More."

I would recommend using the advanced search screen in these databases, for more control over your search.  You may want to check the full text box to only bring back records with the full text of the article attached.  In the first three databases mentioned, you may also want to check off peer-reviewed if you only wish to find scholarly or peer-reviewed articles.

In terms of search terms, you may want to use the following terms:

  • listening AND "patient relationship"
  • listening AND patient AND counsel*
  • "listening skills" AND patient AND therap*
  • "listening attitude"  AND "patient relationship"
  • "listening strategy"

Be sure you enter the terms exactly as they are listed above.  The quotation marks will bring back the exact phrase (such as "patient relationship"-- which will bring back therapist-patient relationship, psychologist-patient relationship, etc).  The * will bring back therapy, therapist, therapies, etc.
