Q. how to find help for a single parent

she does not have a place to stay

I am sorry to hear that!  There are resources to help find housing for single parents.  I would recommend looking at HUD, the US Governmental Department of Housing and Urban Development.  You may want to look under State Resources and select your particular state to find the most relevant resources.  HUD also has a variety of resources such as an affordable apartment search (under Resources), Housing Choice Voucher Program (under Topic Areas), and more.

You can also find a variety of housing grants and assistance programs relevant to single parents here.  Additionally, organizations such as Mercy Housing provide women and mothers with affordable housing around the country.  You may wish to do a Google search searching for "single parent housing" and the name of your state or city.  Housing resources vary state by state.  Your local public library may also be a resource for finding out more local information.
