I am writing my first research/argumentative paper for English 101. My topic is about prison addiction treatment programs being understaffed and ineffective and the result is a high recidivism rate. I need as many articles as I can find on ratios of addicted inmates to non-addicted inmates, drug and alcohol related crimes, statistics of addicts being returned to prison, and anything else you can think of.

I would recommend searching Google Scholar for this article. You can set up Google Scholar to search articles available through the Argosy Library by logging into your Google account, clicking on "Settings," and then "Library Links." You will then want to search for "Argosy." Check off the boxes for the three Argosy University options that come up and hit "Save." Then search for Problem Solving Courts and Therapeutic Jurisprudence Specialized Courts Not a Cure All. Your article should be the first result. On the right hand side of the screen, you will see a link to the PDF of the article.
To find articles on drug addiction and inmates, I would recommend searching the following databases:
- Criminal Justice Abstracts with Full Text
- Criminal Justice Periodicals
- PsycARTICLES and PsycINFO
- Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
- Psychology Journals
You can find all of these listed under Find Articles and More. For search terms, I would recommend using the following:
- addict* AND prison
- addict* AND inmate
- drug AND crime
- alcohol AND crime
- statistics AND prison AND drug
You may wish to mix and match these terms as well! I would recommend using the advanced search in each database. Be sure you enter the terms as listed above. The * will bring back addict, addicts, addiction, etc. You may wish to check off the box for full text to only bring back records with the full text article attached. If you need scholarly or peer-reviewed articles, be sure you check off the peer-reviewed box as well.
