Sorry, the online chat disappeared. I found an article that I can use, but almost all of the articles that I looked at previosly had to be requested. What if I need a peer reviewed article today and all of the ones that I see say that I can request it and get it in maybe 7 days?

Answer

Hello,

I'm sorry you got disconnected from chat! Chat is still available now if you would like to chat with a librarian.

In regards to your question, article databases tell you whether or not an article exists.  This means that if you search for a topic, you may come across some records where the database is telling you that the article exists, but does not have the article available to read in full text.  You can then request the article through interlibrary loan if you would like.  Interlibrary Loan librarians will make every effort to find you an available copy.

Many, many records in the article databases, do, however, have the full text article attached. If you wish to limit your search to only records that have the full text article attached for you to read instantly, you can check the box for full text when you enter your search terms.  This will bring back only records with the full text article attached. Additionally, if you wish to bring back exclusively peer-reviewed articles, you can check the box for peer-reviewed as well.
