I am a student at the Hawaii Campus. I am having a hard time finding how pets impact human health in regards to mental health and well-being

Thanks for contacting the Library.

To find articles about this topic, go to the Library page.  In the Library Search bar, enter benefits of pet ownership, then click Search.

Results will appear on the next screen.  Now you will want to limit the results to your field of study using the limiters on the left side of the screen under Refine Your Search.  I recommend limiting under the Discipline heading. 

Click More under Discipline and a variety of choices will appear.  Click Psychology and then click Apply.

When you scan the results, you will see that they now reflect pet ownership and mental health and well-being.  If you see a title that looks promising, click the title or the full text link. 

You can also try various searches such as:

  • Pet ownership AND mental health

  • Pet ownership AND health benefits

  • Pets AND psychological aspects
