what is post traumatic stress disorder

Answer

Thanks for contacting the Library.

This is a very broad term.  To get background information about "post-traumatic stress disorder," I suggest starting with a reference resource such as Credo.  From the Library home page, select Reference Databases under the Quick Reference tabs.

In the list, click Literati by Credo.

Once Credo opens, type post traumatic stress disorder into the search box and hit Enter.  Your results will appear.

Click any link to read the result.

If you look at the Narrow Your Search column on the left side, you will see that our other databases are linked via Credo.  These will contain articles from scholarly journals and other periodicals and books in the Library collection.  You can continue your search in any of these sources.

Since this is such a broad term, you may want to determine what aspect of PTSD you want to research.  When you do that, you can return to the Library home page and enter your keywords into the Library Search box to return results from our databases.  For example, if you decide you want to look at the impact of PTSD on veterans' family relationships, you can do a search like post traumatic stress disorder AND veterans AND family.  If you want to look at the way PTSD manifests differently in men and women, you could try PTSD AND gender.  These are just examples to help you but if you need more specific information, please let us know and we can direct you.

Sincerely,

Laura Rice, Argosy University Library Services
