within the text of my paper how do I cite a reference

Answer

Hi Christine,

Thank you for contacting the Argosy Library.

The Online Writing Lab at Purdue is a good resource for reference citations.  These two sites address in-text citations.

There are a few variables to consider such as length of citation, number of authors, and whether you are paraphrasing or using direct quote, etc., but generally, you follow the author-date method of in-text citation.  Here is Purdue's explanation for short quotations.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

Sincerely,
